Development:
We the Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland intend to apply for 10 year permission for development. The development consists of: Works to and within the curtilage of Protected Structures RPS Nos. 01395, 01396, 01397, 01398 & 01399and partly within the archaeological site RMP CO026 – 058. The project is for the development of new visitor amenities for this historic garden site by refurbishing existing protected structures, providing new buildings and infrastructure including the following: A) Access and Parking: - Local widening of public road at the front entrance, resurfacing outside front entrance gates, upgrade and local widening of existing front drive; new car park to west of front drive; new access and exit roads to new car park, upgrade of Middle Avenue; temporary passing bays and parking at Middle Avenue; new accessible pathways; new opening and vehicular access gate to west side of walled garden. B) Existing Buildings: - Conservation and repair of all existing buildings as well as the following alterations. Milking Parlour: Conversion of attic for shared residential accommodation, altering elevations. Gardener’s Cottage: Demolition, extension, altering elevation, division of cottage to provide 2no residences, permission to use residences for short term let. Calf House & North Stables: New gates. Main House: demolition, lift extension, altering elevations, change of use to exhibition and ancillary offices. South Coach House: Change of use to ticket office, tea room, ancillary office and storage. Forge & Dovecote: Electrical services. Doyle’s Cave & Slate House: New roof, altering elevations, change of use to WCs. South Stable & Barn: Demolitions, extension, altering elevations, permission to use as café and heritage display area.
